Over the week, there have been some serious accidents occurring on Ghanaian roads. Notable amongst them is the number accidents that happened on the Obuasi to Kumasi highway. These series of accidents claimed a lot of lives and left many injured. Recent statistics indicate that over 500 people have been confirmed dead from these road accidents in the recent 2 months. This has left many people fatherless and motherless, making life hard for most people who got their families involved in these accidents.
So what is really causing these accidents?
1. RECKLESS DRIVING
Most drivers these days drive as if they own the road, it is a common scene to see drivers on the phone whilst driving. Other drivers chat heartily whilst driving and lose focus, therefore leading to accidents.
Drivers flout driving regulations on the road and drive above speed limits therefore resulting in accidents. The speed at which a vehicle is driving is actually a major factor in determining the degree of injury or death. Low speeds actually saves lives and prevents many accidents.
