It is unfortunate and sad how some persons meet their deaths. Even though everyone will one day die, the circumstances through which some persons expire turns painful to the immediate family. The situation becomes more heartbreaking when little children are left behind.
A family in the Central Region of Ghana is currently in a dilemma and is seeking answers to what caused the death of their relative. Rosemond Baidoo is a sister to the late fire officer who died painfully after an attempt to rescue some three persons in a well failed. The deceased, Assistant Station Officer Joseph Aidoo left behind a two-year-old child and a wife.
Rosemond Baidoo is worried about how the child will be catered for, apart from that, she has raised concerns about the circumstances through which the brother died. Her late brother did not go for the rescue mission alone but with other five fire officers from the same station. After their arrival, three persons were being drowned and they were billed to rescue them but it was only the deceased who risked his life. Unfortunately, he did not survive and died.
The issue that is boggling the mind of Rosemond Baidoo is that the other five officers who were at the scene when her brother was dying did nothing to save him. She wants to know what the five officers were doing at the time when the brother was suffering in the well and why they refused to rescue him. She is suspecting foul play somewhere and believes that the five officers must be made to answer questions because they might be hiding a secret.
The questions being asked by the sister must be taken seriously and proper investigations should be conducted. The other aspect of the issue is that the three who were being drowned initially were rescued but the fire officer still died whilst his colleagues were at the scene. Even though the brother is no more, Rosemond wants the issue to be investigated and the child of his late brother must be assisted in life.
Officers of the various security agencies in the country are prone to hazards in their field of work. They are mostly exposed to danger and that accounts for some of them ending their lives whilst in line of duty. May the soul of the late fire officer rest in peace.
