Member of Parliament for Sekondi, Andrew Egyapa Mercer has these spectacular football facilities to his credit. I'm just his first term, the legislator has delivered onto the constituency two artificial football pitches (AstroTurfs); one each at Sekondi township and another at Adiembra.
Before these beautiful pitchers were developed, residents have had to play on dusty pitches, and worst of it muddy and water logged ones. Through his lobbying, the GNPC Foundation and the Ministry for Special Development Initiative had taken up these projects for the beneficiary communities.
Started some nine months ago, the expectation was to have them completed before close of the year, so users and football enthusiasts could make the best of it. As a constituency know for producing talents in football this is just the right investment to support the development not the youth.
The new pitches would have floodlights, wire fences, benches, and among others. Giving an update on this, Mr. Mercer indicated that these investments are just right to ensuring a total development of football in the area, and then eradicate streetism and other social vices in the area.
