Thomas Tuchel to face it first tough test in the UEFA Champions League as Blues coach
against Atletico Madrid
Chelsea's new coach Thomas Tuchel took over from Frank Lampard and has impressed since- played six (6) matches in all, five (5) in the premier league and one (1) in the FA Cup, winning five (5) and drawing one (against Wolves in the PL) with eight goals scored and one goal conceded-an on-goal, having lifted Chelsea from the 9th position into the top four of the premier league.
With the new style of play (3-5-2/3-4-1-2), which is high pressing and exploring opportunities with passes, he has managed to send opposition teams into guessing mood as to what Chelsea players might do at any particular moment. Chances have been given to fringe players and are paying off.
One of the most consistent teams in recent times Champions League football has been Diego Simeone's Atletico Madrid. They are currently on top of the La liga table with 6 point clear and a game on hand, and boast of an in-form Luis Suarez who is currently leading the La liga golden boot race with 16 goals in 17 matches played.
The Argentine's high degree of fluidity (a possible 4-4-2/3-1-4-2/3-4-1-2/) with Koke and Saul Niguez in the heart of central mildfield and a partnership between Luis Suarez and Joao Felix up front have seen them score 45 goals in La liga and conceded 14, winning 17 drawing 4 and losing just 1 in the 22 league matches played this season.
With Tuchel's exploit in the UEFA Champions League with PSG over the years (finishing second in the last season Champions League) against a consistent Diego Simeone's team which doesn't back down, a crunch encounter is set for this two teams.
