Chelsea close to signing Raphinha, United prioritizing Malacia

Given their financial heft, the London club appears to be the most suitable purchase for the Brazilian winger, who has attracted interest from clubs like Barcelona and Arsenal among others.

Raphinha is reportedly on the verge of being acquired by Chelsea FC for close to £55 million from Leeds United. This transfer window, a number of teams have expressed interest in the 25-year-old Brazilian, including Barcelona and Arsenal.

Chelsea appear to be Raphinha's best option because the Spanish team and the North London club are finding it difficult to fulfill Leeds United's asking price.

The Brazilian winger played a total of 2,922 minutes for Leeds United in the 2021/22 Premier League season, making 35 appearances and scoring 11 goals.

Tyrell Malacia of Feyenoord is one of the other much sought-after transfer targets. Goal claims that Manchester United is looking to snap up the 22-year-old in a late transfer deal.

Malacia and Frenkie De Jog, a midfielder for Barcelona who the 20-time Premier League champions are also interested in, have the same agency. Malacia and De Jong are expected to be United's top priorities during this transfer season.

The Red Devils, who had a disastrous season in 2021–2022, where they finished sixth and missed out on Champions League football for the following year, are hoping to rebound under their new manager Erik ten Hag.

The lack of a strong central midfield presence has been one of United's biggest issues, and with Paul Pogba ready to depart the team after six underwhelming seasons, De Jong is likely to take on a vital role in directing the midfield. Due to their shared affiliation with the Ajax Football Club, Dutch manager Erik ten Hag is said to have been interested in the Barcelona midfielder.
