The CAF Under - 20 Nations Cup have commenced in Mauritania, with Black Satellites set to take on Tanzania today. Before kicking a ball, coach Karim Zito and his troops ought to stage the competition fully prepared for glory. There are hopes on this squad to make an impact in the tournament and qualify for World Cup.

The stage

The team did a yeoman job by lifting the WAFU Zone B trophy in Togo last year, beating Burkina Faso 2 - 1 in the final. They entered into the tournament as underdogs, defied all odds to run over their competitors in the end. They took game after game with extra caution and completed their mission on a high level.

The tournament provided a huge platform to the coach, by way of appraising his materials to make future informed decision.

It is a fact, those who participated in that tournament may have seen a drop in some names during this Afcon.

That is a decision subject to the discretionary powers of the gaffer.

The team, post tournament, was afforded some ample time to put things in order for the another major test.

As the team opens a fresh chapter in the tournament this afternoon, there will be the need for the entire contingent to ensure, qualifying for the World Cup supersedes any other agenda.

Hence, they should walk into this afternoon’s game with all intensity and aspirations to start on a brighter note to avoid last minute calculations, as has been the case in previous tournaments.

The onus lies on coach Karim Zito to put together a competent and formidable team capable of wrestling with other nations for honors.

He has the opposite to decide which materials he prefers, so it is believed, the choice made is of quality and can withstand the test of time.

After sealing a qualification for the main tournament, that is the World Cup, they can then shift attention into winning the U-20 Afcon.

Time will definitely reveal the outside.
