It has been a nervy week for the senior national team, the Black Stars. It can be recalled that last week, the coach of the team, Charles Akonnor was sacked. The sacking comes after he suffered a 0-1 loss to the Bafana Bafana of South Africa. After the sacking, a 3-man committee was instituted to find a new coach in 72 hours.
Well, many days have come and there are unconfirmed reports that former coach of the Black Stars, Milovan Rajevac has agreed to a 2-year contract with the football association. Many Ghanaians are confused as to whether the Black Stars need a new coach or there is something missing in team to be causing the shambolic performance of the team.
On The Seat tonight, Monday, September 20, 2021, Kweku Annan, a pro NPP investigative journalist has alleged that the confusion ongoing at the GFA caused the sacking of C.K. Akonnor. He went on to boldly say that some people at the Ghana Football Association are trying whatever possible to make the government lose face with Ghanaians
“There are so many wrangling ongoing at the GFA. After the sacking of C.K. Akonnor, a 3-member team was tasked to find a new coach and look at how things are turning out. I have done my investigations and have come to realize that there is a misunderstanding with the Mark Okraku administration. The administration is unfriendly with many people. He is also interfering in football administration.
I want to tell the government of Akufo-Addo to be cautious. They have to wake up. Because from the look of things I have heard that some football people want to use this misunderstanding to make the Akufo-Addo government unpopular. This is what I have been told. This can create tension for the government” Kweku Annan alleged
Kweku Annan charged the government and the Ministry of Sports to take a serious look at the Football Association because all was not well there. He noted that if care is not taken this might cause the NPP a big shock in years to come.
