The Phobians will host Asante Kotoko in the 2022 President Cup on Friday to honour the first gentleman of the land, His Excellency Nana Addo Danquah Akuffo Addo. Hearts of Oak have not been at their best this season having churned our mixed results in the 2021/22 Ghana Premier League season. Hearts of Oak equally had a poor outing in their continental campaign after winning the treble last season.
The Phobians shipped in 10 goals in two matches in both the CAF Champions League and the CAF Confederation Cup all over two legs. Hearts of Oak won their CAF Champions League first leg against Wydad Athletic Club of Morocco by 1-0 in Accra before suffering a 6-1 loss away in Casablanca. The dropped into the CAF Confederation Cup where they beat Algeria club, Jeunesse Sportive de Saoura by 2-0 at the Accra Sports Stadium. They however suffered a 4-0 loss away in Béchar to the same side to exit via a 4-2 aggregate score line.
The Phobians have now recorded six wins, eight draws and four defeats in a lead up to claiming 26 points from 18 matches. They currently sit 7th on the league table and will next play WAFA on Wednesday, March 9 at the Accra Sports Stadium. Hearts of Oak will however face Kotoko in the President Cup before playing against WAFA and the good news is that, there are reports of talisman, Salifu Ibrahim has recovered from injury and ready to feature for the Phobians.
