
Cristiano Ronaldo has tested positive for Coronavirus while on International duty with the Portuguese National Team.
A statement released by the Portuguese Football Federation earlier stated “Cristiano Ronaldo was released from the squad of the National Team after a positive test for COVID-19, so he will not face Sweden. ‘The Portuguese international is doing well, without symptoms, and in isolation.
‘Following the positive case, the remaining players underwent new tests this Tuesday morning, all with a negative result, and are available to Fernando Santos for training this afternoon.’ The statement continued.
The 35-year-old Juventus attacker was line to captain the Portuguese National Team to face Sweden on Wednesday in the Uefa Nations League but has since been released from the camp after his positive test.
Portugal tops Group 3 on equal points with France in terms of goal difference. A win over Sweden will cement their place at the top while France will do battle with Croatia in the other group match. All matches will be played on Wednesday.
