Check Out The Ghanaian Defender That Cost Man City The 3-Points Today As Southampton Settles At Draw

League leaders Manchester City visited the St. Mary's Stadium today to face Southampton which ended in a draw. Manchester City dominated the entire match both the 1st and 2nd half with ball possession of 75 -73 respectively, however, the Saint fought hard to prevent a second loss in a row to the start of 2022 after suffering defeat in the hands of Bruno Lage - Wolverhampton in their last fixture.

Since the start of 2022, Southampton have picked four points in three games with Manchester City seven points so far in the same number of games. Pep Guardiola and his men are still unbeaten in 13-games and also 22-points in a gap between the second spot in the league table.

Southampton had the lead in the 7th minute with a goal from Kyle Walker-Peters - afterward, the league leaders kept the Saint's defense very busy with a stunner from Aymeric Laporte in the 65th minute to equalize. After equalizing Manchester City kept the pressure on but one player who stood out and cost Pep Guardiola all three points was Ghanaian defender - Salisu Mohammed.

The 22-year-old gave the Cityzens no chance to penetrate through Southampton defense as he made 14-clearances, blocked 3-shots, made 4-interceptions as well as 7-tackles. The Ghanaian since his move from Real Valladolid has broken through the heart of Southampton defense and his performance today was top-notch as he had the most ratings in today's clash of 8.4 according to sofascore statistics.
