The ultimate target for any team across the globe is to score as many goals they can. Be it club level or national side, the opportunity to put balls in opponents’ net is the ideal aspiration. This brings to fore the enviable role of a striker or a hitman, with tenacity, resolute and above all ferocious.
Asamoah Gyan - for years - is known for his scoring prowess. Having featured at World Cups and Africa Cup of Nations, Asamoah Gyan harbors World Cup ambitions. He has communicated his intentions in an open manner, showing how he aims at staying fit for the game time at the mundial. He has hit gym after embarking on personal training to trim his physical appearance and get ready for serious business.
He has set enviable records that could last for years before a new set of generation surpass that and births a new record, but until that is done, he remains an influential figure within the arena of goal scoring.
As it stands, the future appears bleak on any possible addition of the goal monger in Black Stars set up. Otto Addo looks like going into the global football competition without legendary Asamoah Gyan.
Against Brazil, there was an obvious scenario of who could put ball at the back of the net for Black Stars. Ghana went into the game with Felix Afena Gyan as striker but could not get a goal. Inaki Williams took over the striking role and a goal was not fetched.
Was that not a clear case of a potent striker needed to better the story for Ghana? The inclusion of Asamoah Gyan in that game could have resulted in a different outcome for Black Stars of Ghana.
Coach Otto Addo could take a second thought of what he aims at, looking at the players available and what the inclusion of Asamoah Gyan could offer the team on the field of play.
