Football Cannot Move Forward Without Government’s Support - Akufo-Addo

Ghana President, Nana Addo Danquah Akuffo Addo has promised to support sports especially football in the country.

His Excellency made the assertions upon receiving the triumphant Black Satellites who conquered Africa at the CAF U-20 Championship in Mauritania.

President Nana Addo said: “My responsibility is, that is to give sports in our country especially football the maximum support of the government.“

We will really do our best to do that.

“Because without the support it is difficult to go forward in any endeavor in life especially sports.

Each player of the Black Satellites will receive USD 10,000 from President Nana Akuffo Addo for winning the Africa U-20 tournament in Mauritania.

The President however stated that half the promised amount will be given to the players in cash with the remaining invested for a period of ten years to help secure their future.

The technical team and other members of the contingent would receive $5,000 each.

The entire reward package was pegged at $330,000.

Ghana defeated Uganda 2-0 in the finals courtesy Daniel Afriyie Barnieh’s brave to win their 4th Africa Youth Championship title.

The 2009 Africa and FIFA World Champions have previously won the title in 1993, 1999, and 2009.
