Black Stars Under New Direction As Samuel Kuffour To Be Appointed Management Committee Chairman

Black Stars of Ghana could have another direction in the area of management as Samuel Osei Kuffour is in line to succeed George Amoako, reliable sources from the football governing body and the government of Ghana have hinted.

The sources indicated proposals have been made to the Executive Council of the Ghana Football Association by government through the Sports Ministry, to hand over the management of the Senior National team Black Stars to former Bayern Munich defender Samuel Osei Kuffour.

It is believed, the rich and immense experience of Samuel Osei are the compelling reason behind the decision to appoint him as the Black Stars Management Committee Chairman. After spending many years in the Senior National team, he is tipped as a personality who has a deep understanding of how events unfold in the team’s camp. That is not to suggest that the current chairman George Amoako does not know his way around the team.

The number of years spent on the field, accompanied by the results are major considerations to hand the Senior National team to Samuel Osei Kuffour. He will automatically be able to command respect among the present crop of players, whom most look up to, in their career. This means, his personality obviously comes with an incredible weight which cannot be overlooked in taking this critical decision.

At a time that Ghana is bent on making it to 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar, his stewardship will be beneficial to the aspirations of the team. After taking part in Ghana’s maiden World Cup in Germany 2006, Samuel Osei Kuffour as Black Stars Management Committee Chairman has nostalgic stories to share with players in camp, which will in the long run inspire players to give out their best for the team. Ghana has also set sights on next year’s Afcon in Cameroon.

Per the sources, George Amoako with his enviable experience in football administration will deputize Samuel Osei Kuffour. This indicates George Amoako will not move far from the Senior National team.

Following the suggestion, a meeting has been scheduled to discuss the way forward and consider the ramifications of the proposal.

All other things being equal, the change is expected to take effect before next month’s World Cup qualifiers against Ethiopia in Addis Ababa and Bafana Bafana of South Africa in Ghana.

Samuel Osei Kuffour has actively being involved in Black Stars affairs in recent years. He was with the Senior National team in Cape Coast last weekend.
