The AS Roma striker helped Ghana to qualify for the global football tournament in Qatar come November.
The 19-year-old will be a key member of Ghana coach, Otto Addo’s set up at the mundial barring any unforeseen setback.
Afena Gyan says he is rearing to go for the West African nation.
“Every player’s dream is to play for the national team.
“I got the opportunity, I was happy and I gave my best to help the team qualify for the World Cup.
“Soon we will be going to the World Cup in some months to come.
“I can’t describe that feeling you know, it’s every player’s dream to play at the World Cup.
“Here am I, I’m going to play the World Cup for my nation so it’s something different, the feeling is different.” Afena Gyan told AS Roma media.
Afena Gyan has extended his contract with Roma until 2026 following a sterling performance last season where he collected 17 appearances with two goals.
He has played six times for the Black Stars and scored just a goal which came against Madagascar in the opening 2023 AFCON qualifiers.
