With Ghana placed in one of the toughest groups at the 2022 World Cup, alongside giants such as Portugal and Uruguay, here’s a look at Ghana’s top three performers in the Middle East.
In pledging his allegiance to Ghana shortly before the showpiece, Williams demonstrated that he can become a key component of the Black Stars attacking department going forward.
Williams was positive on the ball and needed no invitation in running at opposition defenses. While the attacker may not have scored a goal at the WC, William’s linked up well with the likes of Andre Ayew and Mohammed Kudus.
As one of the best African midfielders in the world today, Partey’s performances did not go unnoticed.
Having been under the cosh against the likes of Uruguay and Portugal, Partey’s calmness under pressure was his best asset in the competition. In leading by example, Partey will no doubt be a staple in the Ghana midfield for years to come, if his showings at the World Cup were anything to go by.
Lastly, not only was Kudus one of Ghana’s best players at the WC but the winger put his name in the hat for the best African performers in the competition.
Kudus was an attacking threat in all of Ghana’s group-stage matches, with his performance against Portugal being arguably his best. The speedy winger troubled Joao Cancelo throughout the tie as he went on to have an impressive WC campaign.
