Asante Kotoko and Accra Hearts of Oak get CAF license to compete in Africa next year

Ghana's two representatives in continental competitions have been granted license to compete in African club competitions next season by the Confederation of African Football, (CAF) after the registration process was completed.

Asante Kotoko and Accra Hearts of Oak will represent Ghana in the CAF Champions League and Confederation Cup competitions respectively next season.

Both competitions will start in September and, CAF has confirmed the participation of both clubs following a successful club licensing seminar held in Cairo, Egypt for member Associations in Africa.

A total of 58 clubs from 46 Member Associations of CAF were licensed to participate in next season's competitions which begins next month.

Asante Kotoko who won the Ghana Premier League, GPL title last season, have been drawn to face champions of Burkina Faso Rail Club de Kadiogo at the preliminary round of the Champions League.

They'll face the Burkinabe champions over two legs with the first leg tie to be played on the weekend of September 9 - 11 in Ouagadougou with the return fixture in Kumasi a week later.

Hearts of Oak will enter the Confederation Cup competition at the second preliminary round stage after the Ghana FA Cup champions drew a bye in the first round.

They will play either AS Douanes of Burkina Faso or AS Real Bamako of Mali who will face off in the first round for the winners to face the Phobians in October.
