I Want to be a Regular Striker For The Black Stars - Former Kotoko Striker

National team football is the desire of every footballer playing at the top level and former Asante Kotoko striker, Kwame Poku is not an exception.

Poku made his Black Stars debut against South Africa at the FNB Stadium in Johannesburg in the penultimate 2021 AFCON qualifiers which ended 1-1 for Ghana to seal a qualification. He was not used in the last qualifier against São Tomé and Principe at the Accra Sports Stadium in which Ghana recorded a 3-1 win. Kwame Poku who has recovered from injury gradually weaving his way into the starting line up of Algeria top flight side, USM Alger and is confident his work rate will soon earn him a return to the Black Stars of which he wants to be a regular feature.

“Insha Allah, it [playing regularly for the Black Stars] is my biggest dream I want to achieve. “Being regular at the national team is the highest height I want to achieve. “If you are returning from injury it takes a bit of time and there is a change of coach. “So the coach must monitor you for a while to see if you fit into his scheme of things before roping your in. “I’m very confident that the Black Stars coach [Milovan Rajevac] will soon give me a call up. “I have not had a phone or a one-on-one conversation with him yet but I have to work to see what the future holds.” Kwame Poku Adansie fm.

The former Nkoranza Warriors attacker signed a four-year deal with top side, USM Alger in a deal believed to be in the region of $300,000. Prior to joining USA Alger from Asante Kotoko, he had scored nine goals in 20 league games in the 2020/21 season.
