Domingas Embana Togna is a former Olympic Games athlete, and World Championship competitor.
She represented her homeland, Guinea-Bissau, in the 2007 World Championships in Athletics – Women's marathon. This event took place in the streets of Osaka, Japan, on 2 September 2007. Unfortunately, Domingas was not able to complete that race.
Moreover, she participated in the 2008 Summer Olympics – Women's 1500 meters race, which took place at the Beijing National Stadium, China, on the 21st-23rd of August. She finished eleventh in the heat and thirty-third overall.
According to a post on GTV Sports plus' Facebook page, Domingas worked as a maid and is currently working in a stone quarry to survive.
But what happened to Dominga's funds she accumulated during her career? Did she mismanage them? This indeed is a painful story for every sports personality. We hope and pray that the sports ministry and other concerned citizens help her out of this situation.
