I am not selfish, I left Kotoko because they couldn’t convince me

Among the 16 players who left the camp of Kumasi Asante Kotoko was Emmanuel Agyemang Badu (Spirito Zaza). The former central defender of the club had his contract run out and couldn’t agree a deal with the Kum Apem club.

Many thought that the prominent and consistent center back would have paired either Ganiu or Mubarik this season, but unfortunately he is out of the club.

Earlier, the defender said he declined Kotoko’s offer because he wanted to leave Ghana for a foreign club. The defender is set to sign a deal with a club outside Ghana.

Footballing rules state that a player receives every penny of his contract if he is a free agent. This means Kotoko has nothing to gain from his next transfer.

This development has led some supporters of Kumasi Asante Kotoko to think that the player is selfish and could have renewed his contract, so that the team gets a share of his transfer fee.

He [Agyemang Badu] has told all concerned supporters that he is not selfish, he waited for a better offer and he could not accept what Kotoko put on table.

”No I am not selfish. I am a player and my job is to play football, I was available but negotiations did not go well with me. So, I had to leave for a new contract.”
