Why Monaco's Benoît Badiashile (19) is the perfect centre-half option for Manchester United this summer

Touted as "the next Varane", Benoît Badiashile ticks almost every box when it comes to partnering Harry Maguire, being tall, quick, strong, young, left-footed, good on the ball, naturally fit, with a decent amount of first-team experience.

Badiashile's natural fitness is incredible - the Frenchman is yet to pick up a single injury in his senior career. The same can't be said for Eric Bailly, who's been suggested as another option to partner Harry Maguire, due to their convincing performances together this season

One of the youngster's key attributes is his distribution; Badiashile ranks in the 94th & 95th percentile for progressive passes and passes into the final 3rd respectively. This is a valuable asset to have in any team and could improve United's attack considerably.

Badiashile is hardworking and tenacious, having completed the most interceptions (50) and made the most clearances (84) of any u20 player in Europe, at a rate of 1.8 interceptions and 3.1 clearances per-90.

Similarly to Maguire, Badiashile is a monster in the air and wins aerial duels at a convincing success rate of 72%, completing 3.57 aerial duels per-90. This paired with his impressive strength & physicality puts him in good stead to transition smoothly into the English game

Badiashile being left-footed satisfies Ole's well-known desire to find a left-footed, left-sided centre-half, rather than utilising a right-footer (Maguire) on the left side. This would bring some much-needed balance to our central defence.
