Nigeria Winger Shocks German Giants Bayern Munich

Nigeria winger, Samuel Chukwueze struck late as Spanish club, Villarreal eliminated German giants, Bayern Munich from the UEFA Champions League.

Bayern Munich were looking to overturn the 1-0 quarter finals first leg deficit at the Estadio de la Ceramica last Tuesday. Arnaut Danjumah’s 8th minute strike gave Villarreal the first leg advantage going into the second leg at the Allianz Arena a week later. Pole, Robert Lewandowski with an assist from Thomas Mueller opened the scoring for the record Bundesliga title holders on the 52nd minute after the first half went barren.

The Bavarians were looking to add another goal but the Spanish side held their guns and defended resolutely into the latter part of the game. Super Eagles winger, Samuel Chukwueze replaced Arnaut Danjumah on the 84th minute and quickly made the impact head coach, Unai Emery was looking for.

The 22-year-old speedster scored four minutes later after coming on to shut Julian Nagelmann’s hopes of reaching the semi finals. The two legs ended 2-1 on aggregate for Villarreal who will progress into the semi finals.
