The Hunters rallied from a goal down to hold Berekum Chelsea in the final first round game of the 2021/22 season on Friday. Bechem United conceded on the 31st minute when Kofi Owusu made a beautiful clock-wise swivel to slot home Berekum Chelsea’s opener. United’s head coach, Kassim Mingle rang changes to his tactics, multiplying upfront in search of the equalizer. The tactical variations paid off when Yaw Annor headed Bechem United’s equalizer from Augustine Okrah’s fine cross from the right side of attack. Kassim Mingle believes they could have carried all three points but were pegged back by the poor nature of the field and questionable refereeing.
“It’s not bad and I think I will say it’s fair results. “Before the commencement of the game I told you the pitch will not allow us to play our normal flowing football. “That’s what was disturbing us but all the same we played better than them, we were possessing the ball more than they did. “The way the officiating went we were not happy with it, we all witnesses to it and you saw what happened,” Kassim Mingle Ocansey told StarTimes.
Bechem United will finish the first round with 30 points from 17 games in second spot - three points less than Kotoko who face Accra Lions on Sunday, February 13 at the Baba Yara Stadium.
