Elisha Owusu, a player for Ghana, has officially transferred from Gent of Belgium to AJ Auxerre of France. The defensive midfielder joined the recently promoted team on a two-and-a-half-year contract that will keep him with the organization through 2025.
The product of Paris, who rose via Lyon's development system, began competing for north of the border in 2019, joining the Flemish team from Les Gones after making 33 appearances while on loan at Sochaux in Ligue 2 the year before.
The midfielder has gone on to establish himself as one of the best in the Jupiler League after making 126 appearances in all competitions, including European campaigns, and won the Belgian cup last season.
Owusu changes careers to work with Gideon Mensah, a teammate on the national team. He is the fourth player to join the relegation-threatened squad this month on loan from Lille, Rennes, or Marseille, after Akim Zedadka, Matthis Abline, and Isaak Touré.
