Karela Made a Deliberate Attempt to Hurt Our Key Midfielder - Hearts of Oak Coach

Head coach of Hearts of Oak, Samuel Boadu has implored referees to protect the career of players.

The Phobians suffered their third defeat of the 2021/22 Ghana Premier League season on Saturday to Karela United at the Crosby Awuah Memorial Park. A late strike by Karela forward, Humid Dafie separated the two sides with Karela making it two straight home wins and four without a loss. Hearts of Oak coach, Samuel Boadu was left fuming at some horrible tackles meted out to midfielder, Salifu Ibrahim who was eventually taken out for Gladson Awako on the 31st minute. The treble winning coach first talked about what led to their defeat.

“With the latter part of the game, lack of concentration made us concede that late goal,”Samuel Boadu told StarTimes. “Salifu, they intentionally wanted to injure him and take him out of the game. “The officials at least should try and protect our players a bit because sometimes it [tackles] are very bad. “Because to deliberately hurt a player with a good future and to take him out of the game and mar its beauty [is not fine]. “Although we have lost but we shall go home and correct the mistakes.” Samuel Boadu added.

The Phobians remain on 20 points 7th position after 13 games with a week seven outstanding clash against arch rivals, Asante Kotoko set to be played in February. The defending champions have a mountainous task of defending the league title but are into the last 16 of the MTN FA Cup.
