Premier League

Highlight of Chelsea match against Brighton

This pre-season game was unusual compared to the previous ones. Not only has it come so soon after the end of the season, there was an extra spotlight on it with the event selected as a government-backed trial for supporters back inside stadiums amid COVID 19.

There were 2,500 home fans allowed in for this test event, all suitably spaced out in two of the stands. No Chelsea fans were able to attend, and several of The Blues first team squad were not present either as they are self-isolating or not fit for the game.

Ziyech sent a long, diagonal ball into the penalty area where Callum Hudson-Odoi chested it back and Werner had a simple connection to score from close-range just 4 minutes into his debut. Not the best marking by Brighton but good vision from Ziyech and proper positioning was glare in the Chelsea play.

Ziyech’s game came to an end soon after the half time. He walked off after receiving treatment on the pitch. After the game Lampard described it as a little twist to the knee that will have to be assessed.

Antonio Rudigar who came in as a substitute commited a foul on Lewis Dunk in Chelsea penalty area as a corner came over. Maupay's penalty was saved by veteran goalkeeper Willy Cabellero.

There was one minutes of the 90 left when Brighton were awarded the second penalty of the game. Ampadu was the player penalised for stretching out a leg and making contact with Aaron Connelly.

This time Caballero could not reach the kick. And the game ended in a one all draw.
