Jonathan Mensah picked up an injury during the match against the Central African Republic today. During matchday 2 of the AFCON Qualifiers, Ghana played against the Central African Republic in Ghana. It was in the course of the game that Black Stars defender picked up the headbutt injury which was a very sad and painful sight to watch. He was immediately rushed to the hospital.
It has been confirmed that the Columbus Crew captain is currently safe but would have to stay at the hospital for further assessment and evaluation.
He will most likely not be able to play in the match against Japan on Friday and may also miss subsequent matches in the Kirin tournament. The team will like to call upon all Ghanaians, friends, and family to remain calm as the Medical team will do their best to bring him back to full strength to compete for the nation.
