Hearts of Oak goalkeeper, Richard Ayi says the squad will rise out of the ashes after their defeat to rivals, Asante Kotoko.

The Phobians suffered a 1-0 loss at the Baba Yara Stadium to Kotoko in week 24 of the 2021/22 league season last Sunday. Abdul Aziz Nurudeen’s light touch on Fabio Gama saw the Brazilian drop easily in Hearts’ goal area with referee Kennedy Paddi pointing to the spot with much haste.

Cameroonian import, Franck Mbella sent Richmond Ayi the wrong way from the 12-yards on the 17th minute which served as the eventual winner. The defeat sent painful chills down the spine of the Phobian fans as that was their first defeat to Kotoko at the Baba Yara Stadium in over a decade. Richmond Ayi remains confident of the squad’s strong comeback, he tweeted:

Hearts of Oak per the defeat drop to 6th on the league table with 36 points from 24 games and will next shift focus to the quarter finals of the MTN FA Cup against second tier side, Skyy FC on Thursday, April 14.
