Accra Hearts of Oak will take on Moroccan club Wydad Atheltic Casablanca this month. Having eliminated Guinean team CI Kamsar in September, club loyalists look forward to another massive victory in a quest to reach the group stage.
Coach Samuel Boadu together with the other members of the technical team, have been working assiduously to put the team in a proper shape. After resuming training, the team is not oblivious of the fact that, an absolute win for qualification is what comes ahead among the scale of preference at the moment.
Accra Hearts of Oak have engaged Tema Youth as part of efforts to detect loopholes which ought to be mend, prior to the first leg in Ghana.
Following lessons picked from CI Kamsar game, few concerns have been noted and put forward before the team. It became known after the game that little information was gathered about the opponent. Although the coach and his henchmen were smart enough to study the opponent in the first half, that was a huge risks which have to be embarked upon by a coach in this crucial moment. Win matters most and that was pulled off finally, but that cannot be repeated in the coming game against WAC.
Supporters of the club demand different approach in the next match, which include a review of opponent’s video as much as they can, taking an advantage of the ongoing Moroccan league to carve out a strategy blistering enough to warrant victory and qualification.
“Hope our team is watching their videos and mapping strategy against them I mean our coach.”
“Get the coach video analyst. We can’t be risking first half to study opponents style of play all the time. It can cause us a lot. Get more videos and video analyst for the coach. Humble opinion.”
“Wydad athletic Casablanca is currently playing a league live I hope the technical team members are watching.”
These are genuine concerns raised and cannot be swept under the carpet. Previous approach must have been revised and tweak to suit the coming fixture. If similar approach is deployed, it could prove suicidal for the team as WAC is different from CI Kamsar.
In as much as the final technical decisions rest on the shoulders of Samuel Boadu, management should ensure the technical team is equipped with whatever is needed to come out with flying colors. The group stage agenda is a collective effort which calls for an inclusive approach.
