Black stars beyond Afcon qualifiers, world cup qualification and foreign based player call ups

The black stars of Ghana gained qualification in to the finals of the 2022 African cup of nations as they drew 1:1 with the bafana bafana of South Africa. They were one of the 8 countries to have booked their place in the final as they are placed first on the table and second placed South Africa and third placed Sudan play each other on the match week 6, South Africa need to avoid defeat to Sudan in order to qualify for the competition to be held next year.

Beyond the African cup of nations qualification the black stars will now set their eyes on qualifying for the next world cup competition.

With the black stars having dipped in their world cup performance following a marvelous and spectacular outings in the competition in 2010 that saw the black stars inch closer to the semi finals only to be denied by a Luiz Suarez handball and an Asamoah Gyan's penalty miss.

The black stars of Ghana once primed as the heart of African football will seek to redeem their image and reputation.

With new leadership under the head coach C.K Akonnor who himself is a former black star and knows quite well what it take and what it means to be part of the black stars will do everything possible to make the country's love for the game return.

The country consist of a rich and large number of foreign born or based players who could help bolster the team in several ways with their talents.

C.K Akonnor started a good job by approaching so e of these foreign based players to convince them to swear allegiance to the Ghanaian national team, although some of these players such as Callum Hudson Odoi has already represented England, the others who haven't are not willing to represent Ghana.

The treatment of players by fans and the general public when scores don't go their way could be a major reason, also the issue of funds and bonuses can not be ruled out as most of the Ghanaian foreign based players seeks to make money rather than service g their country.

With the change in the GFA leadership,a change in the money and bonus handling could be the key to make the black stars attractive to these foreign players .

Untill Ghana a d for that matter Africa is able to assemble all is players without problems, the world cup trophy will be a thing of the European countries.

What do you think is wrong with Ghanaian football?

What do you think can make African football more competitive?

What do you think makes the European national teams more attractive than the African national teams?

Pick one question and give your answers, let's help solve our own problem and make African and Ghanaian football strong again.
