Ghana's most-dressed heavyweight boxer, Azumah Nelson narrated an ordeal he encountered in his boxing career some years ago.
On the YFM Myd Morning show, the retired professional boxer said that some boxers seek magical powers or "juju" to influence a big match. In fact, he also added that people seek juju in everything.
In the interview, Azumah narrated an incident he said he will never forget in his career as a professional boxer. "I was going to fight with someone and I developed stomach pains. I was crying like a baby. But I prayed before going into the ring. I don’t know what time the pain left. In the 6th round, I felt something drop from the back of my head and it was blood. When the referee saw this he wanted to stop the match but I told him I will continue and I won with points", he said.
he also said how his belief in God has actually helped throughout his career. He expressed his gratitude to his father for introducing him to God in his early days." Sometimes, before the fight, I can tell that I will win the fight because God reveals it to me. Sometimes too it is not easy, you will meet an opponent with juju but you have to fight.
he encouraged the youth to be more God-fearing and live a Christ-like life. That's when God will bless them.
The only Ghanaian boxer in the boxing Hall of Fame. Winning many heavyweight titles with technical knockout and unanimous decisions.
