2 Goals In the 3 Matches? Dr. Prosper Has Work To Do In The Final Third

Having no win in 3 consecutive preseason matches against lower-tier sides is a serious cause for alarm. No factor in a football match supersedes the final result. Everyone wishes his team wins or, at least, gets a draw from each encounter. Agreed. That fact can never be disputed as long as football is concerned. However, assessing this Kotoko team with these preseason results is the worst decision one could make.

There are a lot of positives the fans can draw happiness from, as well as improvements that Dr. Prosper needs to facilitate immediately on the side. From the 3 games, it was evident Kotoko possessed very well, created so many chances and lacked clinical feet upfront. The quality in the attacking force is never in doubt. Look at the options: Amankona, Amoako (Chiesa), Oppong (Neymar), Kumi, Taylor, Afoakwa (Mane), Samuel (Okocha), Mefegue, Mbella. If they managed to score only 2 goals in the 3 matches, it means the boys must find the scoring boats before the league starts.

It was not that the attackers were bad, but they were always let down by the bad decisions in the final third. For instance, they all want to dribble pass the goalie them on 1v1 situations. Where they could have easily set up their colleagues, most chose to shoot. The wingers are skillful, technical and pacey, so they need to be clinical to add more numbers to the scoresheet.

This cannot continue when the league starts. Kotoko can't afford to have this same problem for several consecutive years.
