Accra Hearts Of Oak End 2020/21 Season With Double After Winning FA Cup

Accra Hearts of Oak have defeated AshantiGold 8 - 7 on  penalties to win 2020/21 FA Cup and double. The winner had to be decided via penalty kick after a goalless draw in regulation and extra time. 

Fatawu Mohammed, Emmanuel Nettey and Robert Addo Sowah, Mohammed Alhassan, Victor Aidoo, Raddy Ovouka and Salifu Ibrahim scored for Accra Hearts of Oak whiles Empem Dacosta, Owusu Banahene Frank Akoto and Yaw Annor, Osei Agyemang scored for AshantiGold. 


Few minutes into the game, Patrick Razak has the clear opportunity for Accra Hearts of Oak but Kofi Mensah came to the rescue of AshantiGold.

The miners quickly organized into a unit, as Eric Esso, Seth Osei and Yaw Annor made a dangerous move. 

After 10 minutes of play, both teams could not find the back of the net, but kept carving decent scoring chances. 

AshantiGold attached the first yellow card of the game, when Eric Esso unleashed a career threatening tackle on Frederick Ansah Botchway. 

Accra Hearts of Oak continued to take charge of the game, dominating midfield through Benjamin Afutu Kotey and Frederick Ansah Botchway. 

20 minutes of play saw only exchange of passes by both sides as goal eluded them. 

Amos Addai and Frank Akoto conquered the mid-part of the game for AshantiGold, forcing Accra Hearts of Oak to draw back. 

On the half hour mark, the two teams entertained fans with attractive game but lacked the scoring instincts to change the scores. 

Few bad tackles flew in the midst of passing game. This characterized the game till the final fifteen minutes were exhausted. 

Accra Hearts of Oak stated the second half as the better side after weaving balls to push for the opening goal. 

This lasted for few minutes, but AshantiGold overturned proceedings, allowing Yaw Annor to set up Seth Osei for goal, but the final delivery was awful.

Robert Addo Sowah was almost punished for a blunder by Amos Addai, goalkeeper Richard Attah was alive to salvage the situation.

Patrick Razak and Isaac Mensah bossed the lines for Accra Hearts of Oak but they were checked by defenders.

Yaw Annor once again located Amos Addai at the edge of the box but was denied glory by Mohammed Alhassan.

Raddy Ovouka had a quick ball for his side only for goalkeeper Koif Mensah took charge of it. 

AshantiGold came close to goal through Amos Addai but Mohammed Alhassan stayed back to foil the attack. 

As the game was approaching final minutes, Accra Hearts of Oak and AshantiGold stepped up efforts to grab a winning goal, but chances created were left off the hook, whiles goalkeepers of both sides had their part to play in preventing balls from snaking into the net. 

Daniel Afriyie Barnieh had the last bite of the game to make a difference but he missed the target, ending the entire proceedings goalless. 

The game was thrown into extra time, but the first half witnessed some chances which were given away by Victor Aidoo and Salifu Ibrahim. The second half failed to record a goal as regulation and extra time ended 0 - 0.
