Former captain and top goal scorer for the Black Stars of Ghana, Asamoah Gyan has clarified the comment about his return to the national team ahead of the World Cup.

The legend was noted to have made a claim that he was ready to return to the Black Stars and was training to be fit in order to make the squad for the World Cup. The player claimed that he had unfinished business with Uruguay who has been drawn in Ghana’s group at the World Cup in Qatar.

Ghana missed out on a semi-final spot in the 2010 World Cup after Suarez of Uruguay handled a goal bound effort. Asamoah Gyan missed the subsequent penalty in the final minutes of the game and Ghana crashed out of the tournament after a defeat on penalties.

Clarifying his earlier comment, Asamoah Gyan said “I never said I will play for the Black Stars. I was misquoted. But if the people need me and there's any motivation why not I can risk and come”.
