FIFA World Cup

Preview: Nigeria vs Ghana - team news, possible lineups and the return of Dede Ayew

A place in the FIFA World Cup 2022 will be on the line on Tuesday when Nigeria host Ghana at the M.K.O Abiola National Stadium in Abuja.

Following last Friday's draw Ghana have now failed to win any of their last five matches across all competitions, on the other hand Nigeria have just one win in their last five home games.

The two West African rivals battled in the first-leg of their World Cup qualifying playoff tie last Friday with a goalless draw.

In a boring contest at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium, the two sides were guilty for a lazy display and lack of cutting edge at the attacking end of the pitch as they settled for a draw, leaving all to play for on Tuesday, 29th March, at 5pm.

However, the Black Stars will head into Tuesday's game with a fine run in the group stages of the qualifiers, taking 13 points out of 18 to finish at the top of Group G and taking out South Africa on goal difference.

The Black Stars will be looking forward to take a win in Abuja and become one of the first sides to head to Qatar later in the year.

Following the boring contest in the final third in the first-leg at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in Kumasi, coach Equavoen could make a few changes in the attack, and one of those changes could be the Leicester City man Ademola Lookman coming in for Moses Simon.

Meanwhile, the Black Stars of Ghana will be boosted by the return of their captain Andre Ayew, who is now available for selection after missing the first-leg through suspension.

Nigeria possible lineup:

Uzoho, Aina, Troost-Ekong, Balogun, Bassey, Onyeka, Aribo, Lookman, Iheanacho, Dennis, Osimhen

Ghana possible lineup:

Wollacott, Mensah, Amartey, Djiku, Odoi, Partey, Baba, Kudus, J. Ayew, Afena-Gyan, A. Ayew

Nigeria will be counting on their fans for home support as they host Ghana for a place in the FIFA World Cup in Qatar. On paper Nigeria will head into the game as favorites as they are seen to have world-class players across all department of the pitch.

While Ghana will be looking forward to cause an upset at the M.K.O Abiola National Stadium in Abuja.
