The Porcupine Warriors have played 450 minutes without a defeat - conceding a goal and scoring eight times. The two time Africa champions have won four games and drawn just one and currently sit top of the league table with 13 points. One player who has been a light and a delight to watch for Kotoko in their good start to the season is goalkeeper, Razak Abalora. The 25-year-old has kept four clean sheets and conceded once in a blistering performance for the nine time Ghana FA Cup holders. Abalora’s work rate helped Kotoko with four opening win - a 3-1 comeback against Dreams FC in Accra before beating Bechem United 2-0 at the Baba Yara Stadium in week two.
They proceeded with a 1-0 victory in the third week against new boys, Gold Stars at the Dun’s Park in Bibiani and a 2-0 win over Eleven Wonders in the fourth week. Kotoko’s quest to run five straight wins ended with a goalless draw at Crosby Awuah Memorial Park to Karela United in week five. A good performance by all standards but Razak Abalora believes the league is a long way off and the fans must wait until the end of the season.
“It’s a long journey but we believe in ourselves and we believe in our materials. “So, at end of the season, people will know where we would be.” Razak Abalora told Oyerepa fm. Abalora prior to joining Kotoko featured for Tanzania club, Azam fc. He cut his teeth at West Africa Football Academy before the Azam FC journey. Asante Kotoko will host high flying city rivals, King Faisal at the Baba Yara Stadium for week six in December.
