Kudus Mohammed got injured during the match day 1 of the UEFA Champions League game between Ajax and Liverpool on 21 October, 2020. Before being injured, Kudus was one of the most promising players in the world and one to watch in the Ajax team and since his return from injury, his spot in the start line up has been taken and his game time reduced drastically.
Erik Ten Haag is Ajax coach and he might be taking his time to integrate him back into the squad but it has been over 10 games and Kudus has started just once, in which he scored.
Kudus was called by Ghana last month to help qualify for the 2022 African cup of nations in Cameroon. He scored a goal against South Africa in a 1-1 draw and provided two assists against Sao Tome in a 3-1 win which were enough to aid Ghana qualify for the Afcon. Kudus was awarded an improved EA sports player card which saw his rating move from 81 to 84. Even though Kudus has not got back to the form he showed at the beginning of the season, he needs more game time to be able to regain his match fitness and get back to his maximum best.
For Ten Haag, ofcourse the goal is to win the eredivise. He seems to have replaced Kudus with Davy Klaasen in the Ajax starting line up. Klaasen, a veteran with all his experience has not disappointed and has done very well in midfield Scoring crucial goals and helping Ajax maintain top spot in the league. Yet, the most exciting and special player in the Ajax team is without doubt Mohammed Kudus and he must be reinstated back into the starting line up.
Ajax are on the brink of elimination from the UEFA Europa league after suffering a 1-2 home defeat to AS Roma. If Ten Haag wants to turn things around in the second leg and compete for the title, then, Kudus needs to be back in the starting lineup. The magician has to be back and show what his team has been missing.
