The Porcupine Warriors have made a good start to the 2021/22 Ghana Premier League season having gone without a single defeat. They have played five matches and recorded four wins from and draw so far. A 13 point collection sees them at the summit of the league log. Razak Abalora believes the club has good materials to compete for the title despite admitting the league is a long way off. “It’s a long journey but we believe in ourselves and we believe in our materials. “So, at end of the season, people will know where we would be.” Razak Abalora told Oyerepa fm.
Asante Kotoko got their season off to a flying start after coming from a goal down to beat Dreams FC 3-1 at the Accra Sports Stadium in week one. They added another three points from a 2-0 victory at the Baba Yara Stadium against Bechem United in week two much to the excitement of the club’s followers. A week three journey to the Dun’s Park saw them clock three points in a 1-0 win over Premier League entrants, Gold Stars. Asante Kotoko returned home in week four and continued with their onslaught. They made light work of Eleven Wonders in a 2-0 win at the Baba Yara Stadium.
The record Ghana Premier League holders were however pegged back in the quest to make it five straight wins in the season. They drew goalless at the Crosby Awuah Memorial Park in Anyinase against Karela United in week five. They will come up against city rivals, King Faisal in week six at the Baba Yara Stadium this weekend. Kotoko who are on 13 points, lead King Faisal by just three points and a defeat will be detrimental to their hold on the summit of the league log.
