A/R Milo Games 2019/20: Kumasi High School Defeat Adu Gyamfi Shs To Lift Trophies

Kumasi High School were crowned champions of the 2019/2020 Ashanti Region second cycle football competition on Monday afternoon by defeating Adu Gyamfi SHS 2-0.

The truth conquers who have been lively throughout the competition beat the four-time champions with ease at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium to win the prestigious tournament.

Star player Christian Agyenim Boateng who has been by far the best player of the tournament scored both goals which ensured that Kuhis won the competition for the second time in their history.


Kumasi High School were coached by former Kumasi Asante Kotoko defender Isaac Owusu Ninja who was the skipper when the school lifted the trophy in 1997.


The school which is situated in Gyinyase is one of the best single sex schools in Ghana in terms of academics and sports

SOME IMPORTANT FACTS

Okess last won it in 2008 but are 16 times champions. They have won it more than any other school.

Kumasi High School last won it in 1997 but have been in the finals twice for the last NINE editions (2010 and 2014).

 

KSTS last semi finals came in 2012 when they were been defeated by Adu Gyamfi shs in the Semi finals but they were able to place 3rd after beaten Nicholas Opoku’s Juaben SHS in the 3rd place play-off. They lost the semi finals to Adu Gyamfi at Baba Yara Sports Stadium whilst Konongo Odumasi also won their Semi Final game against Juaben SHS at WESCO TRAINING COLLEGE PARK.

Adu Gyamfi SHS are 5 times champions and wanted to win their 6th title to equal T.I Amass record.

Kwasi Oppong SHS won a protest they filed against Agona Sec/Tech for using an unqualified player when they met them at the round of 32. The said player ( Willis Afriyie Okyere) has completed Assemblies of God SHS in 2013 and Mpasatia Sec/Tech in 2017.

Suleman Alidu had four goals during the qualifies. This includes a playoff game against Mpasatia SHS. He plays for the home Boys colts club at Brofoyeduru.

Alidu’s goal against Mpasatia Sec/Tech during their play-off encounter can not be counted as a goal in the tournament proper. So he now scored his first goal of the tournament.

Williams Owusu plays for Ofori Academy, a team owned by Ghanaian footballer, Ebenezer Ofori. Williams won the best player of the 2nd edition of the BabyJet U-16 tournament.

Kumasi based Ofori Academy were the champions of the 2019 edition of the Baby Jet U-16 tournament after beating Kasoa-based Cheetah FC 3-2 in the final at the Accra Academy Sports Complex.

Herbert Addo plays for Asante Kotoko under 20.
