RTU Set to Inflict More Pain on Hearts of Oak

Ghana Premier League returnees, Real Tamale United will test the mettle of Hearts of Oak when they host them on Sunday.

The “Pride of the North” will welcome the defending league champions at the Aliu Mahama Stadium in the final fixture of the first round of the 2021/22 Ghana Premier League on Sunday, February 13. Real Tamale United have not performed badly this season having raked home five victories, four draws and seven losses. Their head coach, Shaibu Tanko earlier said that the second round will be a different ball game altogether and that will start with the final first round game against Hearts of Oak.

“It’s going to be a different ball game in the second round because all these teams who have beaten us, I don’t see them to be teams that can really stand the test of time especially in Tamale.” Shaibu Tanko told StarTimes.

Real Tamale United returned to the top flight after 13-years of hibernation in Division One League. They currently sit 12th on the league table with 19 points from 16 matches. Hearts of Oak on the other hand have had a roller coaster season having collected six wins, five draws and four defeats. They have 23 points seated 7th on the league table from 15 premier league games and have a week seven outstanding clash against arch rivals, Asante Kotoko on February 20.
