The Black Stars of Ghana has already qualified for the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations in Cameroon. But the team still need to playoff other teams in other to make it to the 2022 World Cup in Qatar. The World Cup qualifying format of the Confederation of Africa Football is such that, after a team finishes top of their group, they have to enter a playoff with other group leaders or teams before they make it to the World Cup.
This according to some Sport Journalists in Ghana is very unfair. Joy Sports has put together how Ghana's qualification group for the 2022 World Cup is like to be with dates of playoff. Ghana Black Stars will play Ethiopia from 5th to 8th June 2021, that is the first leg. The second leg game is purported to happen from 6th to 9th October, 2021.
Black Stars will meet South Africa from 11th to 14th June, 2021 for the first leg game and the return match will be from 10th to 12th October, 2021. They will also meet Zimbabwe from 1st to 4th September and clash again from 5th to 7th September, 2021.
Some Ghanaians are of the view that, this is not a tough group for Ghana to qualify to the World Cup. They argued that, if we do our homework well and avoid any complacency, it will be easy for us to qualify.
Check out some reactions from some Ghanaians:
A Facebook user known as Nicholas Baiden said that, "If we couldn't qualify from this group, then it means we are not actually going to put on any better performance there".
Another Facebook user known as Isaac Adzavor reacted that, "Zimbabwe will give Ghana tough time, they are not the best but history have a say between Ghana and Zimbabwe".
Facebook user known as Nathaniel Nettey also reacted that, "With a well coordinated plan both on and off the pitch, Ghana should be able to qualify. This group is manageable. We must do our things right".
