Massive Shakeup In GPL Table As Kotoko Fails To Extend Points Gap And Hearts Drops To The Bottom

The Ghana Premier League (GPL) saw 16 out of the 18 teams play against one another in Matchday 5. Reigning Champions, Accra Hearts of Oak was involved in a CAF Confederations Cup game today against Algerian side, JS Saoura at the Accra Sports Stadium. As such, its GPL game against Berekum Cheslea was postponed and this puts Accra Hearts of Oak at the bottom of the league table with 3 points.

Asante Kotoko fans hoped that the team could make it 5 wins from 5 league games but this did not happen as Karela United held the Porcupine Warriors to a goalless draw at Anyinase. Despite Kotoko's draw away from home, Asante Kotoko still remain at the top of the league table with 13 points; 3 points ahead of 2nd placed King Faisal and 10 points ahead of rivals, Accra Hearts of Oak.

Bechem United, Bibiani Gold Stars, Real Tamale United and Eleven Wonders all won their respective games. King Faisal could only secure a point in its game against Medeama SC.
