After a year break since the outbreak of COVID-19 pandemic, the Ballon d'Or is finally back in shape after the French company announced it's readiness to host the event once again.
The date for releasing the list of nominees is 8th October whiles the ceremony will be on 29th November in Paris.
FIFA player of the year is totally different from the Ballon d'Or. The Ballon d'Or is organized by French company, it was in collaboration with FIFA some time ago but they are now on their own.
The awards scheme started in 1956 with 64 different winners. Lionel Messi is the record holder of the Ballon d'Or with six (6) followed by Cristiano Ronaldo (5), however Cristiano Ronaldo has won more FIFA player of the year than Lionel Messi which furthers the debate of who is the Greatest Player of All Time (GOAT).
This year could be the first time the two players could miss out on the final Three which may include Jorginho, Kante and Kevin Debruyne.
After winning the UEFA Men's Player of the year, Jorginho is expected to become the first Chelsea player to win this award and first player from the premier league since Cristiano Ronaldo in 2008 to snatch the award.
Coach of the year will also be presented with Thomas Tuchel being the favourite.
Robert Lewandowski was tipped to win last year show but the event could not come on.
For sometime now, players who wins the Uefa player of the year goes ahead to win the Ballon d'Or and this year could not be an exception.
Jorginho and Ngolo Kante are the favorites for this year award.
