Chelsea took a beating ahead of their Champions League clash against Atletico Madrid after Tammy Abraham limped off after a Premier League draw at Southampton on Saturday. The striker was ousted by Thomas Tuchel in the first half and replaced by winger Callum Hudson-Odoi.Currently the Blues are losing 1-0 to clubs on the south coast.
Abraham was filmed in the St Mary's stands with an ice pack on his ankle and the 23-year-old is now a suspect on Tuesday night's trip to Atletico Madrid.
The striker limped off to Newcastle after 20 minutes in last Monday's league win,but was a surprise starter at Southampton despite a flop.
Blues number nine is Chelsea's top scorer in all competitions this season with 12 goals to his name, two to £47.5 million in the summer, signed by Timo Werner and Stamford Bridge striker Olivier Giroud.
However, now the striker has gone through six Premier League matches without a goal and only scored one goal in five Champions League group stage matches at the start of the season. Both Werner and Giroud will fight for the top spot against La Liga leaders Diego Simeone, although both scored against Newcastle earlier this week.
Chelsea have left striker Kai Havertz, injured in the absence of Saturday's German league game at Southampton.
Defender Thiago Silva is also out for fitness reasons, but he and Havertz have a chance to reach the European tie on Tuesday night.
The Blues are back at St. Mary's with a cool run and Takumi Minamino finish, but Mason Mount's penalty after halftime raised the Blues' level. The result is a blow to Tuchel's side and their four hopes as they remain in fourth place, but West Ham and Liverpool can overtake them this weekend with wins over Tottenham and Everton respectively.
