The blues were held in a one all draw at the Stamford Bridge on Tuesday evening by Brighton. Thomas Tuchel's men were looking forward to taking advantage of Liverpool and Westham's weekend slack to cement their position in the top four. However the Seagulls were very composed and resilient and succeeded in salvaging a point at London. Chelsea had a couple of sitters they could have put away during the game but were wasteful in front of goal costing them the much needed three points.
Two chelsea stars were singled out for criticisms after their lacklustre performance on Tuesday night despite a poor display from the entire team. Moroccan winger Hakim Ziyech and German youngster, Kai Havertz received the lion share of the chastisement after the duo rendered Chelsea toothless till their substitutions. Ziyech gave away possession too often and failed to coordinate well in attack. Similarly, Havertz struggled to make palpable impression missing one of the clearest chance of the game.
Chelsea fans were unimpressed with the teams performance especially when a win would have seen them move 3rd on the league table. Chelsea boss, Thomas Tuchel spoke in his post match conference claiming his team weren't good in their counter movements and were indecisive with their one-touch football. He added that, he felt his team was a bit tired mentally and physically so they couldn't find their rhythm. Nonetheless Tuchel also praised the defensive composure of Graham Porter's team.
The blues face Westham United on Saturday and would be looking forward to getting back to winning ways as soon as possible to cement their top four hopes.
