Asante Kotoko has made significant improvements since the break - Coach Seydou Zerbo

Asante Kotoko coach Seydou Zerbo insists his side has made significant improvements since the betPawa Premier League was put on hold.

The former Burkina Faso national team coach said he expects this to have a telling effect on his side when the season resumes.

"We've worked hard and used this break period to raise the levels of all the players," Coach Zerbo told the club media.

He added: "Overall, we've had significant improvements though some are still recovering from injuries."

During this break period, Asante Kotoko has been engaging in some friendly matches to keep the team in shape for the resumption of the campaign.

The club has been scoring goals for fun in these friendlies, and Coach Zerbo will hope this would be translated into the season when the campaign resumes.

The Porcupines, will continue with the defence of the league title they won last season as well as looking to win the FA Cup competition, when the go ahead is given.

Before the league was put on hold following a court action taken by AshantiGold SC against the Ghana Football Association, Asante Kotoko had won one and drawn the other of the two matches they had played with one outstanding game to play.

They are the record winners of the top-flight league in Ghana, and they will look to extend their 24 titles by adding this one as well.
