Kingfaisal faced of with Awako was a big blow though, the instances where he has established himself as a game changer at all times. Accra Great Olympics continued their sensational start to the 2020-2021 Ghana Premier League as they defeated King Faisal 3-1 on matchday 12 on Tuesday at the Accra Sports Stadium.
However, Gt. Olympic still proved they were the better side in the afternoon by taking all the three points. The Dade Boys have found their best moment at the right time in the campaign, having held Karela United FC and defeated city rivals Hearts of Oak 2-0 over last two weeks. Great Olympics went into the match against King Faisal very buoyant following their scintillating win against the Phobians. It was a cagey start to the game with both sides trying to capture early possession.
Time will tell as the landlords will not allow them to overcome them at their own backyard and Kingfaisal can not afford to go a long way with a defeat. Great Olympics came up on top in the early stages playing some delightful football despite the absence of their two key men Gladson Awako and Michel Otu. Michael Yeboah had a glorious opportunity to put the "Dade Boys" in the lead in the early stages but King Faisal goalkeeper Adams Abdul Jabal produced a decent save to deny him. Awako has been brilliant all season for Olympics and is missing the encounter due to accumulated yellow cards.
The 30-year old has played in all 11 games for the ‘Dade boys’ this season and scored 4 goals, setting up 3 and won 3 Man of the Match awards in the process. He will return to the Great Olympics team in Week 13 as they travelled to the Nana Fosu Gyeabor Park to play Bechem United.
