Accra Lions scored late on their game as they defeated Legon Cities 3-1 in their betPawa Premier League Matchday 11 fixture on Saturday afternoon.
This capital derby was played at the WAFA Park, Sogakope as Lions posted their sixth win of the campaign.
The three points gained, takes their tally to 19 after 11 matches,and they sit third on the table, one point behind leaders Aduana FC who play on Monday.
Goals by Evans Ampofo (75th), Solomon Oppong (84th) and Abdul Majeed Maswud (90th), gave Lions a 3-0 lead before a 90+2 effort for Cities, reduced the tally in this keenly contested affair.
Lions will look to build on this performance going forward, and they have a midweek game away to Real Tamale United which they will look up to with confidence.
Legon Cities are seventh on the table with 15 points, and they will look to bounce back quickly when they host Dreams FC.
