Asante Kotoko departs to Sudan for second phase of their pre-season rituals

Record Ghana champions Asante Kotoko left Accra on Sunday morning enroute to Sudan to continue with their preparations for the upcoming campaign.

The Porcupines, had earlier planned to head to Turkey for this phase of their pre-season program, but, they have had to abandon this after failing to secure visas for the trip.

In Sudan, they will look to improve on their buildup for the 2022/23 football season in Ghana with some important friendly encounters.

Kotoko, began their preparations for next season in Accra and, have won all two of the to pre-season games they have played; winning 4-2 against Panthers FC and another comfortable 4-0 victory over the Ghana Army side.

The Porcupines will play Sudanese champions Al Hilal Omdurman on Tuesday evening as part of their schedule in the North African country.

They have just appointed former Burkina Faso national team coach Seydou Zerbo as their new helmsman with the gaffer, expected to lead their campaign to success next season.

He takes over from Prosper Nartey Ogum who coached the side to win the Ghana Premier League, GPL title last season.

Coach Ogum, resigned his position after some disagreements with the Asante Kotoko management.

The Porcupines, will return to Ghana at the end of the month and, they'll face rivals Accra Hearts of Oak in the Super Cup on Sunday, September 4 before the start of the campaign a week later.
