Premier League

The GFA must do the needful to prevent poor refereeing

One bane of the Ghana Premier league is officiating. The 12th man as labeled by Anas Aremeyaw Anas is one of the most important characters in the football game.

No matter one’s preparations and economic inputs, on the pitch, the one who takes decision is the referee.

Although all eyes are on the the players, the referee is subconsciously thought of.

The problem with officiating in the Ghanaian game is not that referees are not competent but it is mostly centered on the remuneration and how they are disbursed.

There are times when these referees are owed numerous weeks of their due. Whenever there is a payment, it is just a relief of the owed monies.

Tightening these referees at such a corner will only create a problem of mistrust. At the end of the day, most of these referees are living their lives on the hope that their monies will be paid.

The GFA should not crave for a good and better performance but they must do the needful to up the performance of the referees.
