As it is done every year, teams seek to find out the rivals they will have in the first phase of the Champions League competition. The traditional draw on the last Thursday in August always reveals who teams will be paired against in the group stages as this year's came off today 26 August, 2021.
The 2021-2022 Champions League draw has been completed. With the public back in the stands, in many countries already without restrictions, a highly anticipated edition will start in mid-September on their normal dates after the pandemic and in this case with the traditional draw on the last Thursday in August that is held today.
In it qualified teams all over Europe meet their rivals in the group stage. This year there are five representatives from Spain because Villarreal won the Europa League over Manchester United. Real Madrid , FC Barcelona , Atlético de Madrid and Sevilla complete the list of teams that will seek the round of 16 this autumn. This is how the eight groups are configured.
Barcelona will clash with Bayern at the group stage, Chelsea who are the current champions will also face Juventus in the group stage as well as Manchester City who also face PSG at the group stage. Atletico Madrid faces Liverpool with Manchester United getting the chance to pull a revenge against Villarreal as early as the group stage.
